the list makin' wagon

Here are some things I'll tell you about me.

1.   Black used to be my favourite "colour".
2.   Lately I choose chocolate brown over any other colour.
3.   I dislike red.
4.   I dislike orange.
5.   I dislike white.

6.   I prefer natural toned colours.
7.   The greeney, sagey colour of oft washed natural linen makes me shiver.
8.   I love yellow.
9.   But it is a private colour, enjoyed in the peace and private of time alone.
10.  Yellow is for roses, cold drinks in summer and stationery.

11.  I like the idea of tea, but cannot drink it.
12.  I like my coffee strong, faintly sweetened, with milk.
13.  I like cheese.
14.  I prefer savoury to sweet.
15.  I don't like my food to touch.

16.  I don't like things that are hot.
17.  I enjoy feeling cold.
18.  I cannot eat or drink hot beverages unless they are tepid.
19.  I bought a fridge that makes its own ice so I can use as much as I want.
20.  I don't like ice-cream.

21.  I cannot knit or crochet.
22.  I don't really like things that are knitted.
23.  I love amigurumi.
24.  I love things that are crocheted. Crochet is very pleasing to the eye and hand.
25.  My maternal Grandmother can knit or crochet anything.

26.  My paternal Grandmother taught me the art of fine stitching.
27.  She taught me crewel emboidery.
28.  I taught myself to sew.
29.  I don't measure, pin or directly follow patterns.
30.  I craft by 'feel'.

31.  I'm very impatient.
32.  I sometimes have a very short temper.
33.  I have recently taught myself to use pins, measurements and patterns when I sew.
34.  Just to see if the results are any different.
35.  They aren't.

36.  I wear Birkenstocks every day.
37.  Previously I only ever wore Dr Martens.
38.  The climate here actively prevents me from wearing them. It's too hot.
39.  I love neatness, order, routine and symmetry.
40.  But I am hopelessly messy.

41.  My studio groans under the weight of my piles of 'progress'.
42.  I crave clean smooth surfaces, organised storage and someone to do it for me.
43.  I am a hoader.
44.  I find it difficult not to keep things.
45.  I get it from my Dad, he's messy and keeps stuff too.

46.  I give away everything I make.
47.  I am more energised by the process than the outcome.
48.  I like paper, pens, stationery, envelopes and related accoutrements.
49.  My own style tends toward the symmetrical, geometric and neat.
50.  I love interesting, out there, unusual, bright, lopsided, outside the square stuff.

51.  I just can't do it myself.
52.  I like modern, minimal, clean lines.
53.  I love modern Japanese style.
54.  I have visited Japan, and felt at home there.
55.  I strongly dislike 'country' style anything.

56.  I love my dogs.
57.  Until I got one, I was a cat person.
58.  I'm not really jazzed by lists like this.
59.  I like detail.
60.  I am not a 'big picture' person.

61.  I like crafts that involve lots of detailed work.
62.  I love beads, but don't know what to do with them.
63.  I don't like the look of handmade jewellery.
64.  My ears aren't pierced.
65.  But my tongue is.

67.  I would love to make miniature things out of felt.
68.  I have a Japanese 'mascot' book of patterns.
69.  I would like to learn how to appliqué.
70.  I like interesting fabric, trims, and ribbons.
71.  I have never formally made a 'quilt'.
